Tarih Yüksek Lisans Programı, tarih, sosyal veya beşeri bilimler bölümleri (lisans ve/veya yüksek lisans) mezunlarına disiplinlerarası açılımları olan tarih disiplininde bilimsel araştırma için gerekli altyapıyı kazandırmayı amaçlamaktadır. Programda ağırlıklı olarak Ortaçağdan Günümüze Türkiye Kültür ve Düşünce Tarihi (The Cultural and Intellectual History of Turkey from the Middle Ages to the Present) konu edilmektedir. Program, ayrıca Türkiye kültür ve düşünce tarihinde uzmanlaşmak amacıyla yurtdışından gelen öğrencilere de hitap etmektedir. Ağırlık, öğrencinin araştırma faaliyetine verilmektedir. Bu sebeple, öğrenciyle danışmanı arasında öngörülen yoğun işbirliği, programın en ayırt edici niteliğini oluşturmaktadır.

The Master's Program aims to provide students of diverse backgrounds a firm academic foundation geared towards conducting original research in the field of history with an emphasis on interdisciplinary methods and approaches. Application to the program is not limited to students with undergraduate degrees in history but is also open to those from related fields in the social sciences and humanities, whether it be on the undergraduate as well as graduate level. International students are likewise encouraged to apply. Teaching and coursework are conducted in English.
The two-year master's program focuses on the cultural and intellectual history of Turkey covering the medieval to contemporary periods. Since the field of cultural and intellectual history is particularly underepresented in graduate programs in Turkish universities, the History Department at Bilgi offers a unique program both in terms of diverse and challenging coursework as well as research opportunities in the above field. With an emphasis on interaction with the teaching staff, the program encourages students to work in close collaboration with their advisors in both the classroom as well as on individual research projects. |
